These trees are 3-5′ tall and will start producing in the next couple of years. Plant them where they get maximum sun and warmth, especially in the spring and fall.
According to the USDA, “Prairie Red plum provides a sweet, edible fruit which can be made into jelly. Shrubs planted on good sites produce abundant fruit.”
These plums should be considered experimental in AK. We are trialing them ourselves this year, but plums have been known to ripen around Southcentral Alaska, and these are very hardy plums.
