A red Nanking cherry that’s been selected for its sweeter, larger fruit and its upright growth habit. Regular Nanking cherries are grown from seed, and thus every plant has slightly different characteristics in terms of taste, size, etc. “Cheropugy” is just as hardy as a regular Nanking cherry, but is certain to grow high-quality cherries. Not self-fertile–needs another bush cherry or plum for pollination. Zone 2. Overwintered here in Alaska in 1-gallon trade pots.
